Delete your account

You can do this yourself in the app, or ask us to do it — you do not need to reinstall anything.

Option 1 — do it yourself, in the app

This is instant and does not need us.

Open Borachingu and go to the Profile tab.

Tap Safety Centre.

Tap Delete my account.

Type DELETE to confirm. That second step is deliberate — this cannot be undone.

Locked out of your account? Use Option 2.

Option 2 — ask us by email

Email us from the address you signed up with. We use that to confirm the request is really yours — we will not delete an account on the say-so of someone else.

We reply within one month, and usually far sooner. If we need longer because the request is complicated, we will tell you why before that month is up.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, all of this goes:

Your profile — name, pronouns, city, fan card, interests, everything you filled in
Every photo you uploaded, removed from storage as well as from the database
Your selfie verification data and your biometric consent record
Your date of birth
Your waves posts, your likes, and any shows you logged
Your swipes and matches
Your push notification tokens
Your email address, replaced with an anonymised placeholder

What we keep, and why

We would rather tell you this plainly than let you discover it. Two things survive a deletion, and neither can identify you to another user.

Your messages, in the other person's copy of the conversation	We cannot delete someone else's chat history. Your text and images are replaced with a "message removed" placeholder, so the conversation still makes sense to them without carrying your content.	As long as their account exists
Safety records — reports, bans, and the device fingerprints attached to them	Without these, someone banned for harassing people could delete their account and be back in minutes. This is a deliberate, limited exception, and the identifiers are one-way hashes that cannot be turned back into your details.	Up to 24 months

How long it takes

Immediately: your account stops working and you disappear from everyone's app.
Within 30 days at most: profile, photos and shows are erased or irreversibly anonymised. In practice this happens at once.
Up to 90 days: encrypted backups still hold a copy until they age out on their normal rotation. We do not reach into backups to edit them — that would break the thing that makes a backup trustworthy.

Just want your data, not to leave?

You can download everything we hold about you from Profile → Safety Centre → Download everything. It arrives as a zip of readable files. Deleting is not the only option, and it is not reversible.
